DID YOU KNOW?

By Marlon Burrell:
Did you know that Dennis Brown never formally voiced most of the hits songs he recorded for Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare? According to the engineer who worked on them, The Crown Prince only laid down the demo vocals for the Riddim Twins to build the music around them. Dennis then left Jamaica for an extended tour and couldn’t get back into the studio to finish the job. After a long wait, Sly & Robbie decided to work with what they had, with a little patching up here, and a little tightening up there, Dennis Brown’s demo vocals were released to the world on such international hits like: “Sitting And Watching,” “Have You Ever Been In Love?,” “Hold On To What You’ve Got,” and “Revolution.”
