MORE LEGAL WOES FOR VYBZ KARTEL!

Kartel’s legal woes mount

Court grants $15m default judgement against jailed deejay:

The Jamaican Supreme Court, on Friday, December 16, handed down a default judgement of roughly $15 million against jailed entertainer Vybz Kartel in relation to his failing to honor an agreement to perform in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2009.

The suit was brought by promoter Alton Salmon of Abuka Entertainment, who sought damages for loss of revenue after Kartel failed to turn up for a reggae show, after allegedly being paid an advance.

The judgement was handed down just hours before the entertainer was to be  charged by the Constant Spring police with conspiracy and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was charged after being questioned in the presence of his attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson.

The Portmore Empire head is now charged with fellow entertainer Vanessa Saddler, aka  Vanessa Bling or Gaza Slim.

The charge is connected to the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams on August 16 over a missing illegal weapon.

It is alleged that Saddler, in order to give the impression that Williams was not dead, reported to the Constant Spring police that she was robbed by him. A text was allegedly sent to Saddler’s cellphone instructing her to make the report.

Kartel, Andre St John, entertainer Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Cairo Jones, fashion designer Calvin Haye and Shane Williams have been charged in relation to Williams’ murder.

The men, including Saddler, are to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday, December 19.

Williams’ body has not been found, but the prosecution said it has video and audio evidence to prove the August 16 murder.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, along with other men, is also facing murder and other charges in relation to the shooting death of Gregory Park, St Catherine resident Barrington Bryan, alias ‘Bossie’, in July.

Kartel was offered bail in the sum of $3 million in relation to this murder and will next appear in the court on December 21 on that charge.
