“PLAY YOUR PART” A SONG LAUNCHED BY DANCEHALL ARTISTS TO HELP JA CHILDREN!

BY CANDIESE LEVERIDGE—–

A group of artists have come together to use their talents to help our nation’s children.

Bounty Killer, Konshens, Red Rat, Omari, Raine Seville and Cherine Anderson, among others have collaborated  to make a theme song for the Help JA Children campaign. The song has been entitled ‘Play your part.’

The song will be released today via social media and will be on iTunes as of May 15th.

“All proceeds from the song, whenever it is downloaded from I-Tunes for example will go the Help JA Children campaign. This is just one form of contribution from our artistes.” So said Brandon Allwood, Chief advocate in charge of the Help JA Children advocacy programme.

An official video will also be launched.

The Help JA Children campaign was born out of shock and anger expressed after the Sunday Observer article entitled ‘Horrific’ was published some weeks ago. The article served to remind Jamaicans of the heinous acts of sexual abuse being inflicted on thousands of Jamaican children.

The advocacy has pledged to work with other organisations to reach plausible solutions to the problem, not only to sexual abuse to cases, but to all forms of abuse being carried out against our children, some as young as 18 months old, according to the article.

The first order of business for the Help JA Children campaign will be a march and rally which will be held on May 1, the beginning of Child’s Month. The march will begin and 12 noon at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital and from there will go on to the Emancipation Park, at which guest speakers and entertainers will address those in attendance. It is expected to end at 5 PM.

Interested persons can participate by simply showing up or by registering at helpjachildren.fikket.com. The group is also seeking the public’s help in raising funds for this and future projects. One can donate cash to the groups Scotiabank’s New Kingston Branch account. Account number 803605, Branch Number, 50575.
