“JUST DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT” SAYS TIMMI BURRELL – FLIPPING FROM CULTURE TO DANCEHALL!

SINGER Timmi Burrell has always loved the cultural side of reggae, but recently he opted for a different approach to kickstart his career.

Burrell, who hails from Spanish Town, is one of several acts on the hot Mercury rhythm with his song, Tek Time.

BURRELL… opted for a different approach

Beenie Man, Assassin and Spragga Benz have also recorded on the Mercury.

Burrell said the time was right to jump on a popular beat after years of doing more conventional recordings.

“I’m more of a cultural singer, that’s what I love. But because that kinda music not getting any love wi jus’ do something different,” Burrell told the Jamaica Observer.

Burrell is a veteran of the Negril music scene, working the club and hotel circuit for several years.

Tek Time is the follow-up to Every Weh Mi Go, a catchy number produced by Jermaine Millington for the Negril-based Nu Sound Records.

The response to both songs has been positive enough for Burrell to believe his breakthrough is not far away.

“I am especially excited about Tek Time but I have recorded a whole lot of singles for various producers both locally and abroad, and some of them will be released soon in time for the summer,” he said.
