The 2012 First International Reggae Poster Contest (RPC) began in December 27, 2011 with the goal of discovering fresh Reggae Poster designs from around the world. Interest in the contest grew significantly over the 4-month run with a total of 1,142 submissions from 80 countries. The contest winners were chosen from 370 finalists by a distinguished panel of judges known for their creativity and commitment to design including: Luba Lukova (USA), Andrew Lewis (Canada), and Yossi Lemel (Israel). Thoroughly impressed with the outcome of the competition, the RPC organizers are excited to announce that the international jury committee has selected the three finalist and the 100 best posters.

The objective of the First International Reggae Poster Competition is to enhance awareness of Reggae music and celebrate its positive impact on the world. The term Reggae encompasses all the popular Jamaican musical genres including; Ska, Rocksteady, Roots Reggae, Dub, Dancehall and the unique Jamaican Soundsystem. The 100 best posters submitted offer a glimpse into how the world views the positive energy of Reggae. The contest organizers and partners are pleased by the responses from several participating countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Côte d’Ivoire, China, Estonia, Israel, India, Russia, Malta, Pakistan, Jamaica, Vietnam, Turkey, Libya, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines. The diverse entries are a powerful testament to the global reach and love for Reggae music.

This vision is intended to encapsulate all the achievements of Reggae in a contemporary iconic architecture. More than a contest, this event is a platform to share our mission with the world and a vehicle toward realizing the establishment of the Reggae Hall of Fame in Kingston, Jamaica. The Reggae Hall of Fame will be a monument to the achievements of Jamaica’s popular music and culture, and the world’s first museum of such magnitude to celebrate the living heritage of Reggae music.
