A scholarship will be named in memory of Kevorn Shue who was allegedly killed in his sleep by police.

Shue, a model citizen, was very active in his community of Jarrett Lane/Mountain View Ave promoting positivity and progressiveness among the youths in the area.

Rula Brown, executive director of the Peace and Love Academic Scholarship (PALAS) programme, will visit Jamaica to announce a scholarship in memory of the 21 year old who was the head of the Mountain View Police Youth Club’s sports department.

PALAS Inc board members are currently evaluating a large number of applications for their 2012 scholarships award programme, of which twelve (12) applicants reside inside the Jarrett Lane/Mountain View Ave.

The scholarship to honour Mr Shue will be titled Kevorn Shue Academic Scholarship and will be awarded to Steven Jackson who is a 1st year Law student at University of West Indies (UWI) and is a resident of Jarrett Lane.

Jackson, who was born a few houses away from where Mr Shue was killed on Jarrett Lane  has 16 subjects (eight, CAPE and eight, CXC). The scholarship will value approximately JA$250,000-$300,000.

The award will take place in a ceremony later on this year.
