‘Today Show’ crew comes to Jamaica to interview rising group

They are living the “live in musical colour” dream of many musicians, as recently the NBC Network’s ‘Today Show’ crew flew to Jamaica to feature them.

The band Mystikal Revolution earned the interest of NBC after it hailed the group as the “hottest band currently in Jamaica”.

The shoot was hosted at Grafton Studios, where a live performance was filmed and the band members interviewed.

This is another big achievement for the band, which one month ago, won the music category of the Heineken Inspire competition. It also won the senior category in the Jamaica Cultural Development Corporation’s (JCDC) band competition in 2008.

Mystikal Revolution has carved out a niche in the reggae market by producing, recording and performing uplifting music.

Currently promoting its new singleBlack Woman, the group recently released the official video accompanying the uplifting song, saluting strong, hard-working women.

“We wanted a song that would honour the mothers of the earth and show people that they should really appreciate women,” said Obrian Williams, Mystikal Revolution’s band leader and past student of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

The video proved to be a creative depiction of the song amid an official introduction of the band members.

WORKING ON ALBUM

The band is working on its debut album as well as other singles to be released in a matter of months.

“We’re really grateful for all the support we’ve been getting from our fans. We want to keep it positive so people can feel uplifted, especially during these hard times,” Williams stated.

The band has maintained a very positive message and appeal.

Mystikal Revolution is looking forward to releasing other songs that will be close to the hearts of fellow Jamaicans and will give international listeners another taste of true Jamaican culture. The band is being embraced as a new and fresh-sounding reggae group, as it has evidently attracted a faithful audience in Jamaica. This has been accomplished primarily through its many performances at major festivals and shows at popular venues across the island.

Through its six members and undeniable talent, Mystikal Revolution has been in existence from 2008, and since then, has been showcasing its unique sound and look.

The band strives to be a positive addition and influence to reggae as it seeks to represent Jamaica through music.
