REGGAE SUMFEST TO PATRONS – “BRING YOUR JAMAICAN COLORS!”

PATRONS attending Friday’s International Night I of Reggae Sumfest are invited to wear black, green and gold in celebration of Jamaica’s 50 years of independence.

The annual festival — now in its 20th year is to be held at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, St James.

WAILER… to be lauded for his contribution to Jamaica’s music industry

Scheduled to take the stage that evening are: American artist Trey Songz, John Holt, Yellowman, Leroy Sibbles, The Mighty Diamonds, U-Roy, Derrick Harriott, Leroy Smart, Frankie Paul and Pinchers.

The evening will also see the honouring of Bunny Wailer, Shabba Ranks, and Lady Saw for their contribution to Jamaica’s music industry.

Ed Bartlett, Opposition Spokesman on Tourism, said Sumfest has been iconic in its own way.

“It has served to emphasise the quality of the music and has indeed established Jamaica as a key centre for enjoying the fullest of reggae’s offerings,” he said.

The festival will not only boast a line-up of artistes but showcase Jamaican food and art pieces.

The week of activity started with a Beach Party on Sunday, July 15. The celebration, however, resumes on Thursday with Dancehall Night.
