JAMROCK SOUND SYSTEM “JUGGLING” WITH THE TIMES!

JAMROCK sound system has been around since the late 1980s and continues to hold its own among the new wave of ‘sounds’.

According to selector Donovan ‘Aggart’ Wright, “It is the love for the music and the juggling skills that has kept Jamrock going strong all these years”.

Wright is among six selectors with the veteran sound. The others are Davie ‘Stone’ McNaughty, Donovan ‘Chullups’ Lawrence, Gary ‘G Hype’ Whyte, Sheldon ‘Pittyless’ Smith and Jermaine ‘El Razor’ Graham.

Now managed by 12 to 12 Promotions, Jamrock, says Whyte, is enjoying good times.

“These days I think we are doing much better, we are getting more gigs to showcase what we bring to the table and we are taking entertainment to the world. The Jamaican vibes,” he pointed out.

The White Caps and Magnum Beach Rave parties are two of their recent high-profile dates. Jamrock also played Barbados with dancehall star Konshens.

Whyte believes because Jamrock has been around since the 1980s, gives them an advantage over their rivals.

“We have the ability to take you on a musical journey from the past to the present. We can fit into any event or function because our selectors are diverse in what they play,” he said.

The Jamrock sound system will next be in action at the 12 to 12 beach party, scheduled for November 25 at Fort Clarence Beach in Portmore.
