MORE than two years after his death, police are yet to make an arrest for the murder of Voicemail member Oneil Edwards.

The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica’s (PSOJ) Crime Stop initiative has offered a reward of $100,000 “for information leading to the arrest and charge of those responsible” for killing the dancehall artiste in 2010.

Edwards was critically wounded after being shot several times as he entered his home in Duhaney Park, St Andrew, on the morning of May 10. According to police reports, his licensed firearm was found beside his body and his car ransacked, but nothing appeared to be stolen.

The entertainer succumbed to his injuries 16 days later at the Kingston Public Hospital.

The Jamaica Observer spoke with Prudence Gentles, manager at Crime Stop, who commented on the investigation’s latest developments.

“As far as we know no suspects were held for this murder as we do not take on cases once a suspect has been apprehended,” she said.

Reports surfaced days after Edwards was shot that a suspect had been found shot to death in the community of Chancery Hall, St Andrew, while a second suspect was apprehended by police in Manchester.

Edwards’ cellular phone was reportedly found in the dead man’s possession.

Voicemail started in 2003 with Edwards, Kevin Blair and Craig Jackson.

Their most popular songs are Ready to Party, Wacky Dip, Weddy Time, and Dance the Night Away, a collaboration with Busy Signal.

Blair and Jackson still perform as Voicemail. This year, they teamed with Konshens on the hit single Last Drink.
