CAPTAIN SINBAD IS BACK AFTER A LONG BREAK!

AFTER a 30-year break, veteran producer-cum-deejay Captain Sinbad returns with an 11-track album entitled Reggae Music Will Mad Unu!

The compilation effort — produced by Maximum Sounds’ Fabrice ‘Frenchie’ Allègre and comprises six vocal cuts and five dub versions — will go on sale on February 25

According to www.unitedreggae.com, the album heralds the return of a legendary pioneer from dancehall’s early days.

Captain Sinbad, whose real name is Carl Dwyer and based in the United Kingdom, made his name in the late 1970s on local sound-system Sound of Silence, which, at the time, featured Sugar Minott.

He later transferred his talents to the recording studios with ace producer Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes. His earlier albums include The Seven Voyages of Captain Sinbad (1982) and Again (1983).

Retiring from the limelight and migrating to the UK in the early 1980s, Captain Sinbad remained a pivotal figure behind the reggae scenes producing John McLean’s lovers rock hit If I Gave My Heart To You and collaborating with ‘Frenchie’ on the World Jam album for Greensleeves Records.

In the late 1980s, he returned to Jamaica and established the Sinbad label. The debut release was Wickedest Thing in Life by Gospel Fish. He produced Capleton’s Two Minute Man, Mad Cobra’s Merciless Bad Boy and Frankie Paul’s Heart Attack.

Reggae Music Will Mad Unu! features singles Worldwide Rebellion, Jamaica 50 and Capital Offence.
