Vivian ‘Kyso’ Hendricks, who toured as the official cook for Jimmy Cliff and Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, died Saturday at age 66.

Hendricks passed away at the National Chest Hospital in St Andrew, his daughter Roberta Hendricks told the Jamaica Observer.

She said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Her father had been admitted to the hospital Thursday after complaining of respiratory problems.

Kyso had surgery in California three years ago for a collapsed lung.

Born in Trench Town, Kyso told the Observer in April that his first major culinary assignment was preparing daily meals for artistes at the Channel One studio in Kingston during the 1970s.

His skills caught the attention of Cliff with whom he worked for seven years, starting in 1980.

He also toured with Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers and Black Uhuru.

Vivian ‘Kyso’ Hendricks is survived by mother, wife Mercedes, four children, eight grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
