LAZA MORGAN BASKS IN HIS LATEST HONOR!

BY CECELIA CAMPBELL-LIVINGSTON—-

LAZA Morgan, member of sibling group Morgan Heritage, is still basking in the honour of being selected musical ambassador National Caribbean-American Heritage Month (NCAHM).

Celebrated in June and now in its eight year, the NCAHM recognises the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United States.

MORGAN… it’s always been about the youths

Morgan was chosen by the non-profit organisation Institute for Caribbean Studies (ICS) led by Claire Nelson.

“We wanted someone that would reach the next generation. We’re trying to speak to the now generation of people born in the United States of Caribbean heritage. His own background coming from a second-generation musical family made him a good choice,” Nelson told the Jamaica Observer.

Morgan said felt honoured being recognised and will serve as a role model to young Caribbean-American musicians and artists.

“From the beginning of my career, it’s always been about the youths and sending out a positive message,” said the 30-year-old singer. “It is very important to me cause the youths are the future. So if we want a better tomorrow, we have to build them on today.”
