THE GOSPEL DRAMA “GOD’S WAY” TRAVELS FROM THE STAGE TO TELEVISION JAMAICA!

DAHLIA Harris’s gospel drama God’s Way is scheduled to be aired on TVJ starting on Sunday, July 14.

Harris, head of DMH Productions, said she approached TVJ as a means of taking God’s Way to the Jamaican people.

“What I really wanted to do is take this production to a wider audience. Many persons may have stayed away from seeing it on stage as they thought it was too religious. So I wanted to show them it is really good drama and introduce the wider market to the genre of gospel theatre,” Harris told the Jamaica Observer.

The six half-hour episodes will feature the original cast which took the play to the stage — Harris, Sabrena McDonald, Ainsley Whyte and Trudy Campbell.

In 2012 God’s Way snagged three Actor Boy Awards — the local awards for excellence in theatre — Best Drama, Best New Jamaican Play (the writer’s award) and Best Supporting Actor for Whyte.

God’s Way also spawned the sequel God’s Way 2.

TVJ programmes manager Judith Alberga said that it is part of the station’s thrust to boost local programming as well as support the local theatre industry.
