THE hills are expected to come alive with the inaugural staging of Blue Mountain Music Festival at the Hollywell National Recreational Park in St Andrew February 22-23.

The event, Brainchild of Roshaun ‘Bay C’ Clarke of dancehall quartet TOK, aims to bring the camping festival culture to Jamaica and pair that with pulsating reggae.

Clarke has co-opted his TOK colleague, Craig ‘Craigy T’ Thompson, to organise the two-day festival.

Thompson said the event will be included as one of the official events for February’s Reggae Month and endorsed by the Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust.

“We just wanted to take the people out of the city to enjoy the view and the cool hills. Furthermore, it’s Reggae Month, Black History Month and Heart Month and we just wanted to bring all these together in a healthy, fun music festival,” said Thompson.

In addition to TOK, he disclosed the line-up includes Third World, Chronixx, Tanya Stephens, No-Maddz, Keida, Jah9, Jesse Royal, and Kabaka Pyramid.

The festival’s first day is essentially a stage show, with day two being a family funday of games and entertainment for all ages.

Thompson said provisions will be made for patrons who wish to stay overnight.

“We will be having facilities for patrons to camp overnight for an additional cost and will be organising events such as hiking and stargazing for these persons,” he said
