KINGSTON, Jamaica:
The court has turned down the appeal of the two men convicted of the murder of former Jamaican world heavyweight boxing champion, Trevor Berbick.

The Court of Appeal handed down its ruling this afternoon.

The boxer’s nephew, Harold Berbick and another man, Kenton Gordon, were convicted of the murder in 2007.

Berbick was sentenced to life in prison while Gordon was sentenced to 14 years.
Their attorneys had argued that the police did not follow proper procedure in arresting the men.

They further argued that the men were not given the benefit of an attorney while they were in custody and being interrogated by an investigator.

However, the appeals court disagreed with the arguments and turned down their application.

Trevor Berbick’s body was found near his home in Norwich District in Portland, on October 28, 2006, with four chop wounds to the back of the head.
