HAILING from parish of Clarendon, gospel quartet The Shepherd Brothers is adding the finishing touches to their latest single.

The track, My God Is Real, is self-produced and scheduled for release in April. The single was recorded in a home studio.

“We all share a passion for perfection and we notice that gospel music is massively evolving,” Kevon McLean told the Jamaica Observer.

In addition to McLean, the group comprises Edward Foster, Stephen Richards and Marc Porter, all in their early-20s.

According to McLean, the outfit, however, sees it as a labor of love.

“Today’s people kinda lost the substance of what Christianity and the gospel is all about. That is why our sole mission is to educate, lead, thus bringing forth a change in the lives of individuals so that God can be glorified,” said McLean.

Formed in 2008, McLean said they were all part of a drama group at Edwin Allen High in Clarendon. They quickly realised they all shared a passion for music.

“With this passion, we started to write original songs on a regular basis and performing them in devotion,” he said.

Two years later, they met Junior ‘Uncle Junior’ Smith from the gospel radio Love 101 FM, who recorded the group’s first single The Lord Is My Light and Salvation in 2011.

They have since recorded Father Forgive Us, King of All Kings and Christian Struggles.
