SINGER Denroy Morgan will release his new album, Half N Half, this summer. The patriarch of sibling reggae group, Morgan Heritage, is back at his St Thomas home working on tracks for the album as well as planning a comeback for the East Fest show.

Morgan told the Jamaica Observer that the album is in its mixing stage. It will be a mixture of spoken words from speeches by Emperor Haile Selassie I and covers of Bob Marley and The Wailers’ One Love and Get Up Stand Up.

Among the producers he is working with on the set are Cozie Miller from Anthem Band and keyboardist Sydney Mills of Steel Pulse fame. Half N Half will be released on the ASAPH label.

Morgan is also completing a new version of his memoirs, Confession Aloud.

Another Morgan project is the remount of East Fest, which was last held in 2007. He said due to over-whelming requests from fans in the parish, the show is set for a 2015 return. There will be a change in date, from Christmas to Easter.

December, Morgan explained, is crowded with shows.

“Nothing hardly ever happens during the Easter season,” he said.

According to Morgan, he and his family decided to put the event on hold after suffering heavy losses.

“We were disorganised and it caused us to be in a financial rut. We couldn’t go back to that level of disorganisation. It took longer than we had planned because of family commitments and personal activities,” he said.

East Fest 2015 is scheduled for April 4, 2015 at Goodyear Oval in St Thomas.
