POLICE OFFICER AND PATRON INJURED AFTER A REGGAE CONCERT IN ROCHESTER, NEW YORK!

CrimeScene

Rochester, N.Y. –

A Rochester Police officer and 21-year-old man were injured after a fight broke out as hundreds of people left a Reggae concert Sunday night at the Armory on East Main Street. Police said it was a large fight, but Scott Donaldson who booked the show at the venue said he didn’t realize what happened until Monday morning. Donaldson said he didn’t anticipate any problems following the Reggae concert on Sunday night because he said the event itself went smoothly, but a fight broke out as people were leaving the concert and police were called. He said he had a team of 30 security officers, but they didn’t witness the incident so he assumed it started and ended quickly. Donaldson said he feels terrible that two people were hurt. He told 13WHAM News, “There’s nothing worse to us that when something like this happens…we take this very personally…that’s the worst thing that can happen when somebody gets hurt.” Donaldson said he always makes readjustments in security and personnel, following events. He said police were called to the Armory in March after 5,000 college students attending a concert became rowdy and out-of-control. Donaldson claims changes were made to prevent problems like that, but he admits he didn’t give the city a list of events so they could anticipate large crowds leaving the venue after Sunday nights Reggae concert. He said he sent the city a list of scheduled events Monday, to prevent any other problems. He will also re-evaluate security following the incident after Sunday’s concert. Rochester Police said there have been 43 calls for service at the Armory and seven arrests since the first of the year.
