HARARE – Jamaican reggae singer Christopher Martin is set to perform in Zimbabwe later in August this year.

The Cheaters Prayer hit-maker revealed his Harare show during a recent interview on Winford Williams’ popular Jamaican television show, Onstage.

Martin has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in his home country since the start of the year and he went on the show to clear the air on some of the issues surrounding his career.

“In the beginning of August I will be in Africa,” the singer revealed during the interview. “We have shows in Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa and Harare, Zimbabwe.

“It just goes to show that amidst all the adversity, the Almighty is blessing me still.”

This Africa tour will be part of the singer’s promotional work for his forthcoming album Stepping Razor, which will see his go to places all over Europe and Australia.

Most of the leading local reggae/dancehall promoters like Red Rose, C&A and Red Fox have not come out in public to announce who will be promoting the show.

But it is the singer’s own admission that he will be heading to Harare later this year that is likely to be a joyous news to his legion of Zimbabwean fans especially reggae loving females, who are engrossed by his smooth voice.

Meanwhile, earlier this month two high end vehicles belonging to Martin and another reggae singer Jah Cure were seized Jamaican anti-corruption officials.

Officers from the Jamaican Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption agency (MOCA) and the Revenue Protection Division seized over a dozen high end vehicles in a major crack down.

A Range Rover, a BMW X5 and a Mecerdes Benz were among the vehicles seized. Investigators say the vehicles were illegally imported into the island.

Martin, however, denies any wrong doing in the saga saying that he was not the one who imported the vehicle into Jamaica but he bought it from a local car sales lot.

Martin was also in the news last week after splitting with his girlfriend of the past four years Cecile, who is also a famous female dancehall artist.

The two have a 20-month-old daughter but felt they needed time for a break from the relationship.

Christopher Martin, who was born in 1987, rose to fame in Jamaica back in 2005 when he won the talent competition Digicel Rising Stars.

Since then he has been one of reggae’s leading voices after going on to work with some of the leading producers like Zj Chrome, Chimney Records, Troyton, Big Yard, Arif Cooper, Shane Brown and Christopher Birch.

Some of his other more famous tracks include Paper Loving, Reggae Road Block, Mi Friend Dem, Na Na Naand Chill Spot.
