NEW YORK-BASED K-VIBES TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM “ROSE AMONG THORNS” IN JUNE!

TO many in the competitive New York City music beat, singer K Vibes/Brick Rose has paid her dues, having recorded for several of the Big Apple’s top reggae producers since the early 1990s.

After years of releasing singles, her debut album Rose Among Thorns, will be released in June.

According to K Vibes/Brick Rose, releasing a full set is a personal accomplishment.

“This album is to show the quality of my music and that it is not just about quantity. I want my music to last forever with the pioneers that I have looked up to and those who have inspired me over the years,” she said.

The album contains Reggae Music I Am, which topped New York City’s Foundation Network Chart in January.

Produced by Lloyd ‘King Jammys’ James, it pays tribute to some of Jamaican music’s influential artists including rocksteady group The Melodians, singers Leroy Smart, Leroy Gibbon and Cocoa Tea, and deejay Ninjaman.

Born Karen Morrison in New York to Jamaican parents, K Vibes/Brick Rose started with the Sir Tommy’s sound system, operated by her older brother Howard Mapp.

Her first released song was Bye Bye Rebel for the legendary Studio One label in 1991. Other noted songs include Frenemies, The Gardener and Jump Around.
