MIRAMAR, FL—-
Celebrate Caribbean-American culture through music and dance at the Culture in the Night Concert Series – Caribbean-American Heritage, Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Shirley Branca Park, 6900 Miramar Parkway.   This FREE family event features music, dance, poetry, and food, celebrating the diverse heritage and culture of the Caribbean.

Songstress Etana, the 2014 National Caribbean-American Heritage Month Musical Ambassador, will bring the reggae roots vibe with a softer, more feminine touch that will appeal to everyone at the celebration as she delivers hits from her latest album “Better Tomorrow, as well as anthems such as “I Am Not Afraid” and “Warrior Love”.

Also appearing at the Celebration is Leon Coldero, known for his nimble waistline, Coldero will deliver a sizzling soca set of current and classic hits. Alano Speed Kompa Band will perform new school Haitian music which is sure to generate a lot of excitement for the audience. Young Soleil Rowe will inspire with her earth shattering voice while the Body Nation Dancers will add spice to the evening with their energetic moves. DJ Barrie Hype will offer a selection of Caribbean classics and dance hits before the live entertainment begins on stage and between sets.Young children and teens alike will enjoy the Kids and Teen Zone.

Co-hosting the event is Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis who stated that “as one of the most diverse cities in south Florida, our event highlights how celebrating our diversity makes our City one of the best in the region.”

 

Tasty Caribbean food, cool drinks and novelties will be on sale by vendors while young children and teens alike will enjoy the Kids and Teen Zone, guaranteeing that everyone in attendance enjoy the evening.

Attendees are urged to take their blankets, chairs and cameras for comfort and to capture highlights of what will be a delightfully entertaining evening.
