JAMAICA AND TRINIDAD COMBINE IN PRAISE AT THE CARIBBEAN GOSPEL ESCAPE!

From today until Sunday, June 15, several of the top gospel acts from Trinidad and Jamaica will take the stage at the inaugural Caribbean Gospel Escape (CGE). It is billed as a weekend festival of live music, cultural exchange and exotic meals spanning Montego Bay, Mandeville and Kingston.

Hosted by the outreach ministry, A Betta Tomorrow, the three-day summer tour’s format is established acts bringing their musical style and culture, along with their home islands’ culinary treats, to the cities they visit.

Kevin Smith, gospel artist and executive producer of the event, said, “The vision of CGE is really to bring a cross-cultural musical experience every summer. We intend to replicate this tour throughout the Caribbean, and through this, continue to create avenues that educate and support youth and their various issues. We will also provide a quality entertainment package for our fellow Jamaicans – as we’ve done with our concert series, A Betta Tomorrow, which we started back in 2010.”

Produced by RedTones Productions, CGE 2014 incorporates a line-up of over 30 gospel acts from both islands today at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, St James; Manchester High School tomorrow, and the Police Officers’ Club in Kingston on Sunday, June 15.

CULINARY DELIGHT

Along with the music, patrons can expect a culinary delight of local and Trinidadian meals.

Confirmed acts include Trinidad’s Positive, Koen Duncan, Curtis Jordan, Keron Ramsey, Rizon, E-Praise and Krystle Raghoonanan. They will be joined by Jamaican artistes Kevin Smith, DJ Nicholas, Omari, Goddy Goddy, Claudius ‘Supa’ England, Sister Scully, Jason Mighty, St Matthew, Jai Kingston, Dunamis, Ron Testify, DJ Troy, Goddesta, Jermaine Bolton, Adoracion, Jprojek, Living Praisers, Lotoya Hamilton, DAJ, Marlon Christie, Praise Academy, Urim7 and Yankie B.

DJ’s Chiny, Warrior, Sticko and Marlon Young will spin recorded music at each location.
