Currently riding the charts with his latest tracks, Retarded and No Guns Aroundreggae singer Nature turned in a scintillating performance at the Calabash International Literary Festival at Jakes, Treasure Beach, May 30 – June 1.

The Downsound Records artiste effectively used his three-quarter hour on stage to tune up for Reggae Sumfest 2014 set for next month in Montego Bay.

Appearing on stage at around 2:30 a.m. following an impressive semi-acoustic set by Empress Jah 9, Nature was brought on to close the show and his band wasted no time in striking up the chords to Black Faces. Nature, real name Andre Ellis, slowly stepped on the stage chanting, effortlessly projecting his voice over the applause as he emerged.

A high point of his performance was when he sang Trying Man. He had to ‘pull it up’ to satisfy the audience, and reminded them that the song was for “every trying man and woman out there”.

His energetic performance included samples of music from reggae greats Garnet Silk, Dennis Brown, and Beres Hammond.

“I’m sure all would agree that Nature is truly a hope and great prospect for any international show due to how he’s able to inject soul and passion into his music while on stage,” Downsound boss Josef Bogdanovich said of the singer. With No Guns Around steadily climbing the New York (No.19) and South Florida (No.20) reggae charts, the St James native returns to his parish to perform on Reggae Sumfest International Night 1 on July 18, alongside Wiz Khalifa, Beenie Man, Jah Cure, Chronixx, Jessie Royal, Jason Derulo and others.
