MAGNUM Kings and Queens of Dancehall 2012 winner, Rushane ‘Deep Jahi’ Sanderson, is one of the 10 finalists in this year’s Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) Festival Song Competition, scheduled for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew on Saturday.

His entry is I Love JA. The 23-year-old said he is delighted to be in the final of another competition.

“Many singers and artists have not reached the level that I have reached. It feels wonderful to know that I have been able to be announced a finalist in the top 10 group of Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall and again in the JCDC Festival Song Competition,” Deep Jahi told the Jamaica Observer.

When asked why he chose to enter another competition, he said he wanted to show Jamaica he is a versatile artist.

“The song first came about with Serani’s clothing line ‘I Love JA’. I kept seeing the shirts and Serani told me I should write a song for it. Soon after the opening for submission for the festival came along, I decided to enter the song with the motivation of Serani,” Deep Jahi said.

I Love JA is produced by dancehall singjay Serani. Since his big break on Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Competition, Deep Jahi has appeared on several major stage shows including Sting, A St Mary Mi Come From, Ochi Invasion and Galiday Bounce. He has released singles including Life Goes On, Nuh Punching Bag, Another Try, So Firm, and Conversation.

“I am working on some new singles, so you can look out for that. I recently shot a video for the track Harsh Reality, so you can look out for that too,” he said.
