Healthy celebration coming to Bronx for debut of the Morris Heights Health Center’s newest facility

The Bronx-based Morris Heights Health Center group is celebrating a birth next week — the establishment of a new MHHC facility.

Stichie, the Jamaican dancehall reggae pioneer-turned gospel performer, will be the headliner for the MHHC Festival and Fun Day, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrating the opening of the new MHHC facility, at 825 E. 233th St., and National Health Center Week with live musical performances and family entertainment.

The MHHC festival also features health screenings (including blood pressure, HIV and glucose tests), face painting, a Rising Stars competition, a dance contest and giveaways.

The Morris Heights Health Center – which operates this and other facilities in the Bronx – has been serving Caribbean, Latino and African communities in the borough for more than 30 years.The Morris Heights Health Center – which operates this and other facilities in the Bronx – has been serving Caribbean, Latino and African communities in the borough for more than 30 years.

The new facility joins MHHC’s seven other Bronx locations and its team of school-based health professionals throughout the borough. The health institution has been meeting the needs of Caribbean, Latino and African communities in the Bronx since 1981.
