Trevor ‘T Boots’ Harris–

TREVOR ‘T Boots’ Harris, the veteran music journalist, publisher and newspaper columnist, died last Saturday. He was 69.

Harris, who worked for many years in print, collapsed after leaving a bus in Half-Way-Tree.

A Facebook post from his son, Che Harris, said an autospy will be done to determine the cause of Harris’ death.

“The police notified his son and initially see his death as by natural causes (speculative heart attack). This so far has been the conclusion, as he was well dressed and all his personal effects were returned that was on his person,” the post read in part.

‘T Boots’ Harris covered the entertainment beat for the Jamaica Record’s tabloid, the Weekend Enquirer, as well as Vibrations, Roots News and Sound and Stage Entertainment News.

He also wrote a book, Understanding Reggae and Rastafari.

Harris was a fixture on Jamaica’s entertainment scene for over 40 years.

In a 2007 interview with geoffreyphilp.blogspot.com, he shared his passion for Jamaican music.

“I am, was, and will always be among those music journalists who have chronicled the progress, setbacks and the controversies that Jamaican music, in all it’s varied forms, has encountered. I believe that reggae and dancehall are both capable of bringing the people of our island nation, Jamaica, together, like how Bob Marley has used reggae music to inform and soothe the world,” he said.

At the time of his death, Harris worked at Bess FM. He is survived by five children.
