FOR 10 years Keith Black has been trying to get a break in the music business.

According to the taxi driver, he entered several local competitions which never reaped any dividends.

His fortunes recently changed, however, after being announced the winner of the talent competition at the NinjaMan Taxi Appreciation Fun Day in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Using the moniker Zedek, the driver — who plies the Mount Salem to Montego Bay route — won cash prize of $250,000, plus a recording contract with Downsound Records label.

“I am 100 per cent ready to work with Downsound. I have a lot of lyrics penned and ready for recording. I am ready,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Speaking about his musical style, Black said he catogorised himself as a dancehall artist “full of humor; I like to make the people laugh like Tiger.

“No slackness, no violence. Just good music that people can listen to,” said Black, who will now be balancing both his careers.
