ATLANTA-BASED reggae singer Robert Minott is upbeat with the response to his recently released album Splendid Woman.

The 12-track set, produced by Sly and Robbie and Kirk ‘Kirkledove’ Bennett, is available on iTunes and distributed by Fox Fuse.

“Since its release in June, I have been contacted by the distribution company which is saying that the sales are increasing. So far, they have sold over 20,000 copies and that is a ‘good look’ for me, and the genre,” Minott told the Jamaica Observer.

In addition to the title track, the singer said he has high hopes for other singles including Tell Me, No More Trouble, Love At First Sight, and a collab with the late Bunny Ruggs called Irie.

“This project is a mixture of reggae and R&B. It’s really smooth and I believe some of the tracks will reach the four corners of the earth,” said the 39-year-old.

Minott has also made his name as a promoter, having staged a concert in Jamaica in 2008 featuring R&B and hip hop acts Trey Songz and Yung Joc. He also promoted the annual World Beat Music Festival in Texas.

Having spent his formative years in Papine, St Andrew, he migrated to the United States as a teenager where he attended the Manhattan School of Business.

Minott made his debut in 2008 with the track Roll It, featuring dancehall artist Elephant Man. However, he took some time off to concentrate on events promotion.

“Working with Elephant Man took my thing to a next level. It was pretty good and it exposed me to a bigger market,” said Minott.

He is also known for other singles including Man a Star, Someone to Love and Right Man Fi Yuh.
