MAVADO AND MATISYAHU HIT THE STUDIO FOR A SPECIAL COLLARBRATION!

Its not everyday you get a dancehall superstar and a Jewish reggae superstar in the studio together. Well, it has happened! Dancehall superstar Mavado has collaborated with Jewish reggae artist Matisyahu on a single that is sure to be a classic.

Matisyahu  has come a long way since 2005 when he released his breakout album, ‘

Though he achieved early success as “The hasidic reggae superstar,” Matisyahu-the man and the musician-soon began to chafe under the constraints of that label and the projections that went with it.

During early August Mavado and Matisyahu were both billed for one of Philadelphia’s premiere festivals promoted by AEG Live and Jamaica Dave called “Reggae in the Park”. It was during this meeting they exchanged respect for each others music and possibly collaborating with each other on a single.

Mavado who’s schedule keeps him extremely busy, received a call several weeks after his performance in Philadelphia. On the other end of the line was Matisyahu who had the rhythm and was ready to meet up with Mavado in the studio. They would meet at We The Best Studios and the rest was history.

“We recorded the track in Miami at We The Best studios, Matis brought the track and the rest as they say is history, not much I can tell you right now besides its another side of Mavado but it is a very melodic reggae beat” says Mavado.

Its clear that Mavado continues to evolve while bridging the gap between some of the most prominent artists outside of the Jamaican diaspora with his huge dancehall & reggae fanbase.
