GOVERNMENT MINISTER DAMION CRAWFORD, SEES JAMAICA AS AN ENTERTAINMENT MECCA!

 Damion Crawford—

DAMION Crawford, minister of state in the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment, says with 20,000 entertainment event held last year, Jamaica has both comparative and competitive advantage as an entertainment mecca.

The minister’s assertions came at the launch of Carlene Davis’s album launch — Dripping Blood — at the Redbones Blues Café, on Thursday.

He says the entertainment industry should be considered among those that can contribute to the economic advancement of Jamaica. But, like other industries, must diversify to be competitive.

“So, while we celebrate our dancehall and reggae acts, we should also celebrate gospel music and other genres of music,” he said.

Crawford said any product that has good value, automatically had longevity, compared to short-term fads.

“Whenever there is true quality, over time, like cream, it rises to the top. What Carlene has been doing for a long time is to provide quality entertainment and education through music,” said Crawford.

“I support educating people to fear God, because the individual who fears God is less likely to take negative action. The fear of God reduces negativity, because you either fear God or the State and if you do not fear the State, God will deal with you,” he continued.
