ETANA ENTERS THE BILLBOARD CHART WITH NEW ALBUM “I RISE!”

 Etana—

Due to a change in the cut-off date for the tabulation of Billboard Magazine’s charts, Etana’s new album I Rise debuts at number seven on the Billboard Reggae Album chart.

Although it was released on October 28, Catch Di Riddim sources disclosed that Etana’s album sales comprised pre-orders from one state in the United States; roughly 200 copies were sold. It is expected that a week of sales could see the Clive Hunt-produced I Rise topping the chart next week.

I Rise is Etana’s fourth entry on the Reggae Album chart. Her 2008 debut, The Strong One, entered and peaked at number 12.

Three years later, Free Expressions stalled at number 11. Last year’s Better Tomorrow peaked at number nine.

“The reception to the album has been good so far. A lot of people will like it and some won’t. Some will purchase it and some will download for free. It’s just the way it is, but I am alright,” Etana told the Jamaica Observer while on the Pittsburgh stop of her current US tour.

The tour, which kicked off on October 23, ends in late November. It also features singer Cocoa Tea and deejay Louie Culture.
