The show features Ken Boothe, George Nooks, Bagga Case (of Home T fame), The Mighty Diamonds, Dennis Walks, Boris Gardiner and Gem Myers, among others.

All will be backed by the Fabulous Five Band. JAVAA’s Music Festival is one of the events closing the RJR Communication Group’s Kingston Music Week.

Freddie updates a classic

Freddie McGregor has re-recorded his 1973 song, I Don’t Know, with his sons Chino and Stephen. Produced by his Big Ship Music label, it will be released later this month.

I Don’t Know was originally recorded at Studio One where McGregor started his career in the early 1960s. It was one of the underground songs that introduced the singer to hardcore roots fans during the 1970s.

McGregor, 58, describes I Don’t Know as “an inspirational song” that retains popularity four decades after it was recorded throughout Europe.

It set the pace for his other well-received Studio One songs such as Bandulu and Bobby Babylon in the late 1970s.
