After months of closure, the Bob Marley Museum is set to reopen on December 29.

The museum, which is located at 56 Hope Road in St Andrew, closed its doors in October this year for renovation, after 30 years in operation.

The museum is located on the site of Bob Marley’s home that he purchased in 1975 and was his home until 1981 when he died. It was eventually converted into a museum by his wife, Rita Marley. The property has an 80-seat theatre, photographic gallery and a gift shop. Tours are also facilitated for local and international visitors.

When the museum reopens on December 29, tour and operations manager Anthony Henry says, visitors will be pleased with the enhancements.

“We are very happy to re-open the gates to the Bob Marley Museum, after the renovation project that allowed for an enhanced tour experience. This will no doubt provide even more opportunities for insight into the life of the Honourable Robert Nesta Marley and an all-new excursion for our visitors,” Henry said in a press release sent to The Gleaner.

Henry also said that the opening hours will remain the same – Mondays to Saturdays from 9:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. He noted that the final tours at both the Bob Marley Museum and Tuff Gong International will begin at 12 p.m., and that both properties will be closed to tours on January 1, 2015.
