Vybz Kartel, the controversial artist who is currently serving life imprisonment for murder was nominated for five Youth View Awards (YVA).

The categories for which the entertainer has been nominated are:

1. Favorite Local Chart Topping Song

2. Favorite Local Artiste of the Year

3. Favorite Dancehall Artist

4. Hottest Summer Song of the Year “Miami Vice”

5. Favouite Musical Collaboration

The YVA are promoted by the company An Elegant Affair and nominations are mainly based on Internet page views and responses via social media.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was sentenced on April 3, 2014 for the August 16, 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
