SINGER/ACTOR LEON SEEKS FUNDING FOR UPCOMING MOVIE “HOSANNA!”

Leon Robinson—

LEON Robinson, star of the Jamaican-inspired film Cool Runnings, has his sights set on a new movie.

The flick, Hosanna, will see Robinson as producer and star. He has since taken to Indiegogo.com to seek the public’s assistance in funding the project. Shooting is slated to begin in June 2015.

Written by Ghanaian filmmaker Leila Djansi, Hosanna is about William, an average educated man, who wants a better life for himself and believes that America is the place to accomplish his dreams. William visits the US and soon becomes an

illegal immigrant. He struggles to become a citizen, but years of immigration lawyers, long and arduous legal process and money problems make it impossible. William turns to whatever means necessary, which end up becoming his worst nightmare but also produces his most precious dream, his American-born son, Hosanna.

“No person should be labeled illegal,” said Robinson.

Illegal immigration is a complex economic, political and cultural issue.

It is estimated that over 14 million illegal immigrants reside in the United States. According to an article posted in Washington Times, more than two million will be approved for President Obama’s deportation amnesty over the next few years. Once approved, they will be eligible for social security and health care benefits.

A regular visitor to Jamaica, Robinson is the frontman for a reggae soul band, Leon and the Peoples.
