DANCEHALL act I-Octane is booked as headliner for More Life 2015 slated for the legendary 02 Brixton Academy in London, England, on May 24.

“This will be the biggest event showcasing Jamaican culture and music. More Life 2015 is set to have 5,000 people,” said Portia Clarke, PR representative of BeeMango consultants.

Also rostered for the gig are female deejays Macka Diamond and Miss Dynamite, and sound system Stone Love and its Japanese counterpart Mighty Crown.

“More Life 2015 is bringing Jamaican and Japanese acts all under the same roof for the first time in the United Kingdom. This within itself is a historic moment in music which is linked with Jamaica culture. And this is the only concert these artistes will be playing in the UK for exclusively for one night,” Clarke told the Jamaica Observer.

According to the PR representative, the event is being put on by Flames Radio and Another Level Promotions.

“Flames Radio and Another Level Promotions have held concerts bringing artistes such as Beenie Man and Mavado to the United Kingdom, to name a few. More Life 2015, however, is the biggest platform,” she said.

Clarke explained the reason for selecting the artistes.

“I-Octane’s uptempo hit Happy Time is still very popular, so too Wine and Jiggle… Macka has consistently stayed relevant in the market. Her hits Dye Dye and Bun Him are still on the radio and in the clubs. Stone Love and Mighty Crown both represent dancehall and reggae culture in two parts of the world,” she said.

Opened in 1929, 02 Brixton Academy is situated in Brixton, south London. The building has played venue to a number of high-profile acts since becoming a music venue in 1983. Madonna, Iron Maiden, The Clash, Nine Inch Nails, Bob Dylan, and Sex Pistols have plied their trade at the ‘academy’.

Reggae acts Marcia Griffiths, Toots & the Maytals, Sizzla Kalonji and Damian Marley are also ‘alumni of the academy’. In fact, the latter two have recorded live albums at the arena. Sizzla released Live at the Brixton Academy in August 2000, while Marley released Damian Marley, Live at the Brixton Academy six years later
