COCOA TEA’S NEW SINGLE URGES CHILDREN TO “STAY IN SCHOOL!”

Cocoa Tea—

Foundation reggae artist Cocoa Tea is now taking his lyrical message to the

classroom.

His latest single, Stay In School, is one which campaigns for students to embrace what’s important and pay attention to their school work, allowing nothing to distract them from what is important.

According to the singer, the song is for all the youths, cautioning them not to be led astray by “strange people in the world out there”.

The song – produced on his own Roaring Lion Record label – was voiced last week at Digital B studios on a classic Studio One rhythm, built by Kirk ‘Kirkledove’ Bennett. His next step was to Penthouse, where Dean Fraser put his ‘magical touch’. His last stop in the production process was checking in with Steven Stanley, who mixed the track at Tuff Gong, a process that took eight hours. In Cocoa Tea’s own words: “It was a dream team.”

The artist is anticipating that the song will create a big impact on his intended target – school children.

Not only is he batting lyrically for this, but he is also willing to “put his money where his mouth is”, as he is donating 100% of the sales to education.

He said he is planning to meet with the Ministry of Education to ensure everything is in place for that to happen.

“After seeing what is happening to the young children in relation to all these child abuse and the publishing of school girls on Facebook, I thought we, as a country really need to find a solution to this rising problem,” he said.

The artist, born Calvin Scott, told The Gleaner, he is not just speaking as an entertainer, “but a father, and most of all, a citizen of this country.”

He is convinced that he might be able to help in changing the mentality of the youths, and what better way to do it than with music.

“I decided to embark on this project, and hope that my fellow entertainers will follow suit, if it’s the least I can do,” he said.
