MASSY STAYS TRUE TO HIS ROOTS!

AFTER recording and touring in France in 2014 singer Massy is pushing for a summer release of Future Roots, his first album.

If production goes as planned the launch will coincide with the start of a busy French summer festival season, for which Massy is booked.

“It will be my second time there, so it will great to get the EP out for people to hear where we’re at,” he said.

In January Massy released Know Yourself, his debut EP, which has to date yielded two singles, the title track and Chill Out.

He spent much of last year building a base in France, performing alongside French singer Naaman and Jamaican rapper Triple.

Naaman has a strong underground following in France. He worked with Jamaican musicians including Sly Dunbar, Dalton Browne and Danny ‘Axeman’ Thompson on his 2013 album, Deep Rockers Back a Yard, which got solid reviews in his country.

It was while in Jamaica recording the album that he met Massy (real name Michael DaCosta).

In France, they performed to mainly white audiences in areas like the historic city of Normandy and the wine region of Bordeaux.

“Some of the people don’t even understand English, but every fan counts and the people there have a great vibe,” said Massy.

He is booked for Reggae Sun Ska and Garance, two of the largest summer festivals in France. He also has dates in Spain and Indonesia.

Massy has been recording since his days at Campion College. His first songs were done for the fledgling Daseca Productions.

Following a break for studies at St John’s University in Minnesota where he earned a degree in audio and video production, he returned to music.

The Blame, lead song from Future Roots, will be released before the album.
