JAMAICANS AMONG FOREIGNERS ARRESTED IN IMMIGRATION & CUSTOMS OPERATION IN ATLANTA!

ATLANTA (AP) — Federal immigration authorities say they arrested 60 people in a targeted five-day operation in metro Atlanta, the Augusta area and northwest Georgia.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a news release Wednesday that officers made the arrests of the foreign citizens from June 14-18.

ICE says 17 of those arrested meet the agency’s highest priority level because they had prior felony convictions or are members of a criminal street gang. The agency says the remaining 43 meet its second level of priorities for enforcement because they have serious or multiple misdemeanor convictions.

Those arrested come from the following countries: Antigua, Belize, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Romania, South Korea and Thailand.

They are being held in ICE custody pending deportation proceedings or deportation from the US.
