OMI JOINS THE ELITE PLATINUM CLUB!

 Omi—

SINGER OMI has joined an elite club. He is among seven Jamaicans whose song or album has sold platinum (over one million copies) in the United States.

OMI’s hit song Cheerleader is number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. It is number one on the Digital Songs Chart, selling over a 170,000 downloads in the past week to bring its total sales to just over 1.1 million.

Cheerleader is number four on Billboard’s Streaming Songs Chart and number seven on the Radio Songs Chart. It is also the second most-successful single released in the US by Ultra Records.

In 2009, another Ultra Records single, I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) by rapper Pitbull, reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Prior to the Digital era, Jamaicans in the US million-seller club included Shaggy, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Sean Paul, Ini Kamoze, Inner Circle and Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers.

OMI is the first Jamaican to reach number two on the Billboard Hot 100 since Sean Paul’s Temperature reached number one in 2006.
