MR. VEGAS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM OF COVER SONGS, “LOVERS ROCK AND SOUL!”

LOVERS Rock and Soul, the new album from  Mr Vegas, will be released in late September by his MV label.

The singjay said it will have nine songs, all covers, done to classic dancehall beats such as the Queen Majesty and General.

Alton Ellis’ Girl I’ve Got a Date, Jon B and Babyface’s Someone to Love and Say Amen by Howard Hewett are some of the songs Vegas covered.

He told Splash that each song on Lovers Rock and Soul are personal favourites.

“It feels great when yuh hear a old school beat an’ can sing to it. This is how Mr Vegas started out, singing these songs to get the attention of females,” he said.

Lovers Rock and Soul is co-produced by Vegas and Cleveland ‘Clevie’ Browne of Steely and Clevie fame. That duo produced Hot Gal Today, a big hit in 1999 for Vegas and Sean Paul.

This is Vegas’s second album of covers. The 2012 double set, Sweet Jamaica, heard his take on songs like Jimmy London’s A Little Love and Sweet and Dandy, originally done The Maytals.
