LADY SAW EXPRESSES HER CONCERNS ON JAMAICA’S CURRENT CRIME WAVE!

 Lady Saw—

FEMALE deejay Lady Saw is describing Jamaica’s current crime wave as “a sad state of affairs”.

The artist, given name Marion Hall, said while she has no idea of the root cause, something has to be done to stem the scourge.

“It’s very sad… it’s like people don’t believe in God anymore why they just go about and take another life. I can’t go about blaming the government, but something has to be down,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

“I would say create more jobs but even when that is done there are persons who don’t want to work. You might say build training centres and people don’t go for the training. You will tell them to farm and people don’t want to put their hands in the dirt… it is so sad and disappointing. We just have to take it to God,” she continued.

Making reference to the recent death of policewoman Crystal Thomas, Lady Saw said criminals seemed to have lost all respect for women. Meanwhile, earlier this week, a 15-year-old girl was shot and killed at her gate in west Kingston.

“At one time, you would hear of women being spared. Now they are just going through and killing everybody… man, woman and child. It’s like they don’t have mothers and sisters and girlfriends and daughters.”

The entertainer is calling on communities to begin the conversation on crime and violence.

“Let us put it to God. Let us hope and pray that this will pass. We also have to go out into the communities, gather and talk to each other and see how we can help to solve this problem because it is going overboard,” she said.

Since the start of the year, more than 300 people have lost their lives violently.
