CANADIAN pop sensation Justin Bieber has released a dancehall-inspired song called Sorry. Produced by American dance music maestro Skrillex, it is from Bieber’s upcoming album titled Purpose.

Co-written by Bieber, Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, the song was released on October 22 as an instant download with the pre-order of the album on iTunes.

This is not the first time that Bieber has worked with Skrillex. They collaborated on the song Where Are U Now, which hit pop charts in the United States early this year.

Reviews have described Sorry as a “tropical house song with EDM and dancehall beats”. A dance video uploaded to YouTube on October 22 has received over 20 million views.

The 27-year-old Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny John Moore, is arguably the biggest name in the lucrative electronic dance music market.

In 2011, he was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist; he won three (Best Dance/Electronica Album, Best Dance Recording and Best Remixed Recording Non-Classical).

He was named MTV’s Electronic Dance Artist of the Year for 2011.

In 2012 Skrillex teamed with Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley on the song Make it Bun Dem, which was certified gold for sales of over 500,000 copies in the US. The song topped Billboard’s Reggae Digital Singles chart and also charted in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Slovakia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Australia, and Austria.

Bieber, 21, is one of the biggest names in contemporary pop music. His songs and albums sell in the millions, while his shows and tours are sold-out.

His erratic behavior has made him a tabloid favorite in North America.
