DANCEHALL STAR MR. LEXX, LOOKS TO THE LUCRATIVE LATIN MARKET!

 Mr Lexx—

MR Lexx is the latest dancehall artist setting his sights on the lucrative Latin market. He recently returned to Jamaica after a fourday gig in Colombia. “Well, Latin America is a very huge market.

And they already love our music enough to create Reggaeton from it, so why not give them the real thing?,” he asked in an interview with the Jamaica Observer. Mr Lexx was a featured act on the Megaland Music Festival, hosted by radio station La Mega in Bogota.

“I have a song Bad Boys with El Freaky sound system that has been mashing up the airwaves in Colombia, so they (the radio station) reached out to me to make an appearance and, of course, I accepted. We performed a 30-minutes set,” he said.

In addition to Bad Boys, his set included Babylon featuring Congo Rock, When We Do Road, and some of his previous hits including Pickney Nah Hold Man. Other acts on show included DJs Cedric Gervais, Tova, Cyberpunkers and David Tort.

A number of dancehall/reggae acts, including Sean Paul and Shaggy as well as producer Tarik ‘Rvssian’ Johnston, have found success in Latin America.

Mr Lexx (given name Christopher Palmer) said while in Colombia he did a club performance which was used as part of the video for Bad Boys. His latest projects should be out in two weeks.

“My Jiggy House production label is about to release its third rhythm called Wet Rag featuring Beenie Man, Bling Dawg, new kid Devina Burn, and myself.

I’m also excited about Fi Di Gyal Dem, a song just released by Jillionaire and Phat Deuce of the Major Lazer gang. The video is about to drop, too. I’m definitely looking forward to releasing an album next year,” he said.
