THE SECOND ANNUAL KINGSTON MUSIC WEEK, KICKS OFF DECEMBER 1- 6!

 LIVE music comes to the capital city from December 1-6 with the second staging of Kingston Music Week.The week kicks off on Tuesday with Live at Countryside scheduled for Countryside Club in Half-Way-Tree, and features ’80s deejay Peter Metro, Nina Karle and Alana.

On Wednesday, student bands at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts will take patrons through the history of Jamaican music — from ska to dancehall — at the college’s amphitheatre. That same night, the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artists and Affiliates (JAVAA) takes over the Countryside Club with artists Boris Gardiner, Ken Boothe, The Heptones, Gem Myers, and the Fab 5 Band taking to the stage.Thursday should see a performance by dancehall deejay Tifa at the Triple Century Sports Bar in New Kingston. At the same time, just across town, the Bonner brothers — Snatcha Lion, Spanner Banner, Pliers and Richie Spice — will all share one stage at Café Delight on Haining Road.

On Friday night, Café Africa will be hosting the Conscious Reggae Party — Acoustically. This free event is being headlined by Uprising Roots Band.

On Saturday, the Jamaican Folk Singers give a free lunchtime treat at Devon House. The evening kicks off with Keesing Live, where the legends Ernie Smith and Pluto Shervington will share the stage.

On the same night, one of the Wickie Wackie Music Festival gets underway with Mystic Revealers, Jesse Royal and Morgan Heritage.

On Sunday, December 6, there is the polished presentation of Hello Again by Harold Davis and Friends, which include Seretse Small, Michael Sean Harris and Maria Myrie at South Beach Café. Later in the night is the finale of the Wickie Wackie Music Festival, which will see Iba Mahr, Cherine, Kabaka Pyramid and Raging Fyah taking to the stage at the eastern St Andrew venue.
