“THIS GRAMMY NOMINATION IS THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT OF MY CAREER” SAYS JAH CURE!

 Jah Cure—-

Jah Cure made his share of headlines this year. He had a court case in Trinidad and there were stories of a split from his wife.

On Monday, the 37-year-old singer was in the news again – this time for more positive developments. His album, The Cure, is one of five nominees for Best Reggae Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. “Is a privilege; I would say is the highest achievement of mi career. Jus’ to get nominated shows whatever I’m doing musically is good,” he told Splash.

The Cure was released in July by VP Records. It topped Billboard’s Reggae Album for three weeks and, to date, has sold just over 10,000 copies, according to sales monitor Soundscan.

Jah Cure co-produced the 13 tracks with Lamar Brown, Bahamian Christopher ‘Sketch’ Carey, and Trevor ‘Baby G’ James.

During the summer, Jah Cure toured Europe to promote the set, his first in three years. He also performed in Trinidad and Tobago in September where he was ordered by a judge to pay a promoter TT$83,000 for not honoring a concert appearance.

Though The Cure’s sales tally is far better than its rival nominees —

Acousticalevy (Barrington Levy), Zion Awake (Luciano), Strictly Roots (Morgan Heritage), and Branches of The Same Tree by Ghanaian singer Rocky Dawuni — its figures are far from impressive. Jah Cure, however, sees a silver lining in the clouds. When yuh look at sales all over, I think 10,000 is pretty good. It’s jus’ been out 21 weeks an’ did well on Billboard, so wi give thanks,” he said.

The 58th Grammy Awards takes place February 15 at the Staple Center in Los Angeles.
