Ann-Marie Campbell has been in her job as executive vice president of Home Depot’s U.S. stores since the top of the month. In her new post, Campbell oversees almost 400,000 employees in 2,000 stores. She replaced veteran exec Marc Powers in mid-January.
Jamaicans.com reports that Campbell, 50, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and graduated with a degree in philosophy and an MBA from Georgia State University. She began her career with the Atlanta-based company as a cashier while still in college during the ’80’s.
“I learned a lot about commitment to family and commitment to winning. She had very high standards,” Campbell said.
In 2014, Campbell was named to Fortune’s list of the “40 Most Powerful Women in Business.” Before being named to her new position, she was in charge of some 690 Home Depot stores in 15 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
