KEVIN LYTTLE TO HEADLINE “CARIBBEAN VILLAGE 2016” IN FORT LAUDERDALE, JUNE 26!

Friends of South Florida’s Caribbean community are gearing up to enjoy the second installment of “The Caribbean Village”, an exciting, family-friendly music, arts, food and wellness festival celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month. Kevin Lyttle, a son of St Vincent and one of the prestigious few artists to have entered the Billboard Top 5, will headline the event.

Set for Sunday, June 26th at the Lauderhill Sports Park, The Caribbean Village is chock full of entertainment and activities for the entire family.

Guests will enjoy complimentary welcome refreshments and will be greeted by the gorgeous ladies of the Miss Jamaica Diaspora pageant, which the Galleon Foundation will stage just a few weeks after the Caribbean Village. Inside the festival, kids will enjoy rock wall climbing, bounce houses, donkey rides and more presented by Kidsville, a new childcare service at Westfield Broward Mall. Adults can enjoy team sports including sack races, eating competitions, ludo and dominoes.

For those who prefer a more moderate pace, there will be cooking demonstrations and competitions, an array of cultural offerings, arts and crafts, wellness services, and giveaways from some of the community’s most supportive corporate players. Food and drink vendors from across the islands will offer an assortment of culinary delights.

The Miss Jamaica Diaspora swimwear competition will kick off the evening’s performances, followed by comedy and music sets. Singer Bridget Belcher will headline the gospel segment featuring performers from a number of local churches. Emprezz Mullings, visiting from Jamaica, will host the lineup of performers including Leon Coldero and Kevin Lyttle, who will close the show on a high note with popular hits like “Turn Me On” and “Drive Me Crazy”.

City of Lauderhill Commissioner Howard Berger will perform hosting duties for the event. Attendees are welcome to bring their personal sized tents and lawn chairs, but no food and drinks.

“The Caribbean Village is yet another project produced by the Galleon Foundation aimed at highlighting and educating the community about the rich Caribbean Heritage”, said Lindell Douglas, president of the Galleon Foundation. “Parents can bring their children to this event to learn more about their brothers & sisters culture from other islands. It will be a fun filled day for the entire family”.

Sponsors include LDA Wealth Management, The Lauderhill Mall, Jamaica National, Miss Jamaica Diaspora, Kidsville, Taste the Islands, The Fidel S. Goldson Sr Foundation, Caribbean National Weekly, Jamaicans.com and SFLCN.com.
