One roadway is to be renamed the Theodore Whitmore Crescent and another is to be renamed the Theodore Whitmore Close.
The Theodore Whitemore Crescent, which is approximately 590 metres in length, runs from the Howard Cooke Boulevard turning unto Montego Bay Toad, then right at the first roundabout in a Southerly direction making a loop, passing the Catherine Hall Shopping Complex (Mega Mart) to the second round-about.
The Theodore Whitmore Close is approximately 226 metres in length and is the stretch of road running from Theodore Whitmore Crescent to the bleacher’s car park at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
The highlight of Whitmore’s playing took place at the 1998 World Cup finals in France where he scored twice for Jamaica in the 2-1 win over Japan in the group stage.
He is currently a member of the national coaching staff with responsibility for the national under 23 squad and is a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group.
The former Seba United (now Montego Bay United) star Whitmore also serves as head coach for the St. James High DaCosta Cup team.
The move according to the St. James Parish Council was a part of its drive to honor of Montegonians – living and deceased – who have offered exemplary service and have contributed significantly to the development of Montego Bay and its environs through Business, Politics and Sports.
